           Discover a sanctuary for our great apes, nestled among vast orange and grapefruit groves away from the buzzing city. Center for Great Apes is a permanent sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees located in Wauchula, Florida. Now home to 44 great apes, including 13 orangutans and 31 chimpanzees, the CGA is a premier facility for the rehabilitation and care of these two species of apes.The Center for Great Apes’ mission is to provide a permanent sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees who have been rescued or retired from the entertainment industry, from research, or who are no longer wanted as pets.
