Panaewa Rainforest Zoo, Savings and Zoo Description for 2025


         Not your typical large Zoo but packed with the same great experience! It’s lush, quiet, compact in the number of animals, but they are all a diverse for all to enjoy. It is the only Natural Tropical Rainforest Zoo in the United states and admission is FREE! Home of white Bengal tiger Namaste, whose daily feeding is quite a sight. Among the other animals here are such native Hawaiian species as the state bird, the nene goose, and the io (hawk), as well as lots of other rare birds, monkeys, and lemurs. You can shudder at the slithery reptiles or take a regal walk amidst peacocks in the zoo grounds. If you visit on a Saturday, definitely head to the Petting Zoo, where you can get up close and personal with different creatures. Let out your animal side at this wild wonderland – from lush and exotic plants to squawking birds and excitable primates, you’ll find them all here.

Admission Prices

  • Hawaii County Residents:
    • Adults (18-59): $4
    • Kupuna (60+): Free
    • Keiki (Under 18): Free
  • Non-Residents:
    • Adults (18+): $12
    • Keiki (3-17): $5
    • Keiki (0-2): Free

Annual Pass (Membership Option)

  • Annual Pass (Individual, Resident or Non-Resident): $25

Additional membership tiers (such as family or multi-person passes) have not been announced as of June 2025.

Local Resident Discounts

  • Free admission for all Hawaii County keiki (under 18) and kupuna (60+).
  • Reduced admission ($4) for Hawaii County resident adults (18-59).
