The Peoria Zoo, which used to be named Glen Oak Zoo, is part of the Peoria Park District and is open every day except for the holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day. This zoo has been an accredited part of The Association of Zoos and Aquariums since 1976. Back in 2009, the Zoo not only changed its name from Glen Oak Zoo to Peoria Zoo but it also opened its new Africa Exhibit which almost doubled it in size.

There are now many events, programs, and amenities for anyone to enjoy. Some of the events include special events, weddings, and even birthday parties.
