Hutchinson Zoo, Savings and Zoo Park Description for 2024
Hutchinson Zoo opened its doors in 1986 and sits on 9 acres of land. This zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. They currently have 160 animals with most of them being native to Kansas and one building that holds animals from around the world. The zoo also has a rehabilitation facility that treats 500 animals per year. Currently the community of Hutchinson maintains the zoo.
The zoo is allowing free admission while they expand it to make it bigger and better. It takes visitors 45 minutes to walk through the zoo. However, this is only without riding the Prairie Thunder Railroad Ride. This train runs on weekends and when school is not in session for the day. When visiting the zoo, you can such animals as raccoons, otters, snakes, monkeys, and much more.
