Lee Richardson Zoo, Savings and Zoo Park Description for 2024


The Lee Richardson Zoo was founded in 1927 by the city when Lee Richardson, the park and zoo superintendent as well as the chief of police at the time brought in a couple of skunks. The zoo was later named for Mr. Richardson in 1950, just one year before he died. This zoo is a department of Garden City and is accredited by the AZA. Visitors can see many different animals here including birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. This zoo also provides events and education services for those who want to take part. Those wanting to visit the zoo can plan their visit by checking the website for admission and hours, checking out the zoo map and safari shop, and even getting directions.
