The Louisville Zoo, also known as the Louisville Zoological Garden opened its doors in 1969. This zoo sits on 135 acres and is in the more popular area of Louisville. This zoo is the state zoo of Kentucky and currently has over 1,700 animals it exhibits. It has also been accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the American Alliance of Museums. You can see many different animals here including mammals, birds, fish, invertebrates, as well as amphibians and reptiles. You can also see many different types of plants here as well as enjoy the different educational resources and events.

Louisville Zoo – 2025 Admission & Discounts

Upcoming Special Events & Discounts

  • Mother’s Day 2025 (May 11, 2025) – FREE general admission for moms. Other family members need to purchase tickets in advance.[1]
  • VIP (Very Important Princesses) Party (June 7, 2025) – Special event with princess characters, includes Zoo admission and parking:
    • Members: Adults $40, Children $50, Ages 2 and under $10
    • Non-members: Adults $48, Children $58, Ages 2 and under $10[2]
  • Boo at the Zoo 2025 – Starting September 27, 2025. Special Halloween event with trick-or-treating for kids 11-and-under.[4]
  • Throo the Zoo 5K – May 10, 2025 at 8:00 AM. Registration fee: $38.10 (includes finisher’s medal, t-shirt, and post-race refreshments).[5]
