Dickerson Park Zoo, Savings and Zoo Park Description for 2024


The Dickerson Park Zoo has over 500 animals that represent 160 species. It opened its doors in 1922 and is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and has been since 1986. This zoo was opened up by the Springfield Park Board in 1922. The zoo became involved with many different species survival plans some of which include Asian Elephants, cheetahs, and maned wolves. The zoo has educational programs, events, programs, and even a way for visitors to support the zoo and become a member.
