Monsanto Insectarium, Savings and Zoo Park Description for 2024


The Monsanto Insectarium is actually an insect zoo located within the St. Louis Zoo. This insect zoo opened its doors in 2000 and sits on 9,000 square feet. The zoo cost $4 million to get it up and running. The zoo holds many educational resources as well as an insect breeding and research facility. Visitors can actually watch the research facility through a window in the insect zoo and watch the research that is going on. This is a neat way to learn how the researchers learn how insects live and even help humans in life. This insect zoo includes a pollinarium as well as a tropical garden where the insects live.
