The Henry Doorly Zoo has welcomed 25 million visitors since its opening to the public 40 years ago. This zoo has actually evolved from the Riverview Park Zoo which was started in 1894. The zoo is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. It currently has the biggest cat complex in North America.

This zoo has many different exhibits for people of all ages to enjoy as well as many different programs and events. Some programs and events include day camp, classes, campouts, a scout program, animal encounters, birthday parties, and much more. It also provides with visitors an opportunity to rent the zoo for their own privately held events.
